Written by His Holiness in 1962, the book describes the search that indentified him as the 14th Dalai Lama and reveals his evolution from simple monk to world religious leader. It also paints an intimate portrait of Tibetan Buddhism before the Chinese invasion.
Taiwan Friends of Tibet said the launch of the autobiography is highly significant and will hopefully convey a sense of inheritance to the next generation of Tibetans.
This evening, pro-Tibetan Taiwanese non-profit organizations will hold a candlelight vigil in Freedom Square, Taipei, in remembrance of those who have sacrificed their lives in the struggle for a free Tibet.
