Tibet Post International (TPI) is an independent Tibetan media outlet that publishes news and informative articles—often absent from the propaganda machinery of the communist state of China—providing a counter-narrative that is both critical and enlightening.

TPI challenges state-sanctioned discourses, amplifies underrepresented perspectives, and fosters a more comprehensive understanding of regional and global issues through prioritising transparency, impartiality, and intellectual rigour. Its commitment to journalistic integrity and ethical reporting underscores its role as a vital platform for truth-seeking and advocacy in the face of systemic oppression.

TPI's primary objective is to campaign, promote, and advance journalism in Tibet and in exile, while striving to uphold and defend the freedom of the press both within and beyond Tibet. To achieve this, the organisation endeavours to foster collaborative networks, disseminate credible information, advocate for transparency, and empower journalists through capacity-building initiatives. Furthermore, TPI aims to mitigate challenges such as censorship, repression, and misinformation by leveraging innovative strategies, international alliances, and evidence-based approaches. By cultivating resilience among media professionals and promoting ethical standards, TPI seeks to safeguard the integrity of journalism, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of democratic discourse and a catalyst for societal change.

The news agency maintains an unequivocal stance in staunch support and unwavering promotion of democratic values and principles, encompassing genuine freedom of the press, unimpeded freedom of information, unassailable freedom of assembly, and absolute independence from any influence—whether overt or covert—by governments, non-governmental entities, or their affiliates. Furthermore, it champions transparency, accountability, and impartiality, fostering an environment conducive to intellectual discourse, civic engagement, and societal progress. By adhering to these tenets, the agency fortifies its credibility, mitigates potential conflicts of interest, and upholds its role as a bastion of ethical journalism—ensuring its reporting remains untainted by external pressures, ideological biases, or partisan agendas. This steadfast commitment not only bolsters public trust but also reinforces the indispensable role of a free press in safeguarding democratic institutions and promoting equitable governance.

This independence extends to any potential conflicts of interest arising from temporary or permanent financial benefits—such as travel, accommodation, salaries, or advertising—which could result in bias, manipulation, or the imposition of censorship or self-censorship. The agency rigorously safeguards its editorial integrity by eschewing any form of pecuniary influence, ensuring its reporting remains untainted by external inducements, vested interests, or undue leverage. By implementing stringent ethical protocols, fostering a culture of accountability, and prioritising transparency, it mitigates the risk of compromising its journalistic objectivity. Furthermore, the agency actively resists any attempts at coercion, whether subtle or overt, that might undermine its commitment to impartiality and truth. This unwavering dedication to ethical standards not only reinforces its credibility but also fortifies its role as a vanguard of democratic principles, ensuring the dissemination of accurate, unbiased, and unfettered information to the public.

Furthermore, the agency is steadfastly committed to resisting the distortion of history or the perpetuation of narratives that may harm, marginalise, or offend the most vulnerable populations of any nation. It actively challenges historical revisionism, dismantles prejudicial ideologies, and counters the propagation of harmful stereotypes—ensuring its reporting remains ethically sound, culturally sensitive, and socially responsible. By prioritising inclusivity, equity, and reparative justice, the agency amplifies marginalised voices, fosters intercultural understanding, and promotes a more nuanced and accurate representation of global histories. This principled approach not only safeguards the dignity of disenfranchised communities but also reinforces the agency’s role as a custodian of truth, integrity, and moral accountability in journalism. Through its unwavering dedication to these values, it seeks to cultivate a media landscape that is both transformative and restorative, bridging divides and fostering collective progress.

The last five decades, during which Tibetan journalists have cultivated and sustained close relations with the outside world, have unequivocally demonstrated their capacity to make profound contributions to world peace, democracy, human rights, and press freedom. Through their unwavering commitment to ethical journalism, resilience in the face of adversity, and dedication to truth-telling, they have emerged as pivotal advocates for global justice, intercultural dialogue, and the preservation of fundamental freedoms. Their work has not only illuminated the struggles of marginalised communities but has also fostered a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of human rights and democratic principles. By transcending geographical and ideological boundaries, Tibetan journalists have played an indispensable role in challenging authoritarianism, promoting transparency, and advancing the universal values of equality and liberty. Their enduring efforts underscore the transformative power of journalism as a catalyst for social change, solidarity, and the enduring pursuit of a more equitable world.

The TPI is resolutely committed to ensuring the free, fair, and accurate dissemination of all information pertaining to Tibetans—both within and beyond the geographical confines of Tibet. This involves a multifaceted approach, encompassing the following commitments: to uphold journalistic integrity, to eschew sensationalism, and to provide a platform for diverse perspectives that reflect the complexities of the Tibetan experience. The organisation prioritises transparency, accountability, and impartiality in its reporting, ensuring that its narratives are not only factually rigorous but also ethically grounded. By fostering a culture of critical inquiry and intellectual rigour, the TPI seeks to challenge misinformation, counteract historical erasure, and amplify voices that have been systematically marginalised. Furthermore, it is dedicated to resisting external pressures—whether political, economic, or ideological—that could compromise its mission to deliver unfiltered and unbiased coverage. Through these efforts, the TPI aspires to contribute to a more informed, equitable, and just global discourse on Tibet and its people.
