15april20103Dharamshala: On the morning of April 14, 2010, an earthquake of 6.9 on the Richter Scale occurred in Kyigudo, Yulshul County, Kham, Tibet. The earthquake claimed an unprecented amount of Tibetan lives and left many more wounded, along with toppling many monasteries, schools, and private houses. The Tibetan Parliament-in-exile has been holding solemn prayer sessions to support those affected by the catastrophe and have expressed their condolences to and solidarity with the victims of the quake.

The Tibetan Parliament-in-exile appealed to the Chinese government to provide assistance to the survivors of the quake. They also asked related International organizations to send representatives to Tibet for quick relief service to the affected local people. They thanked the monasteries around the affected areas, along with the many Tibetans who have rallied to provide relief support for the survivors.
