Tibetans congratulate new chief ministers of of Himachal and Gujarat

tibet-HH-HP-CM-2012Dharamshala: - Both the Tibetan executive Cabinet (Kashag) and the Tibetan Parliament in Exile Tuesday, December 25, congratulated Mr Virbhadra Singh and Mr Narendra Damodardas Modi, long-time supporters of Tibetans and the issue of Tibet, on their election to the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

"On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and Tibetan people everywhere, I would like to congratulate you on leading the Congress Party in the state to victory in the just concluded Assembly Elections," the political leader of Tibetans (Sikyong) Dr Lobsang Sangay said in his congratulatory letter to Mr Virbhadra Singh, who was sworn-in as the state's chief minister in the state's capital Shimla Tuesday.

"We are extremely happy to learn about your elevation to the post of Leader of Congress Legislature Party in the Himachal State Assembly," the democratically-elected leader of the Tibetan people and the political successor to His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet.

"Today on the occasion of your swearing in ceremony, as the next Chief Minister of the state, we wish you all the best and pray for your successful tenure," said the democratically-elected leader of the Tibetan people.

"You have always been a long-time supporter of Tibetans and the issue of Tibet hroughout your five-decade long career. We look forward to see a further strengthening of your Government's support for the issue of Tibet under your leadership," Dr Sangay added.

"Tibetans are eternally grateful to the great country of India and its people, particularly the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh and Himachali people," Dr Sangay further said.

"I look forward to your next visit to Dharamsala and would very much welcome the opportunity to pay you a courtesy call, should your schedule and convenience permit," the political leader stated.

The speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in exile, Mr Penpa Tsering congratulated Tuesday congratulated the newly-elected chief ministers of the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

In separate congratulatory letters to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr Virbhadra Singh and Gujarat CM Mr Narendra Modi, Mr Tsering said: “On behalf of all the Tibetan people, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile wishes to congratulate you and your party for the emphatic victory in the recent state elections.

"We wish you all the success in your endeavour and we are sure your leadership will take your state to greater heights in future," said Mr Penpa Tsering.

“We have always been very appreciative of your support for the Tibetan people and the cause of Tibet," Mr Penpa Tsering further added.
