19December2012-002Dharamshala:- Yesterday, December 18th, marked the beginning of the third series of the Tibet Women’s Association’s (TWA) Tibetan Women’s Advanced Leadership Training at the Gandhi Peace Foundation in New Delhi, India.

The event, lasting through December 27th, aims to help develop TWA’s various programs and instill strong leadership capabilities in Tibetan women. The program, originally designed in 2008 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Parliament, brings various organizations together to discuss and develop leadership roles within the Tibetan community.

This program is one of TWA’s numerous initiatives designed to empower Tibetan women to engage in the various aspects that concern the Tibetan and to actively participate in the political spectrum.

This year’s event will welcome more than 25 young Tibetan women from a variety of professions and disciplines. Speakers will include; “Lynda O Lepcha (Director of Holistic Training Solution), Irene M Santiago (former Chief Executive Officer of the Mindanao Commission on Women and Convener of the Mothers for Peace Movement in the Philippines) and Tenzin Dhardon Sharling (Member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile and Co-Chair of the International Tibet Network).”
