Dharamsala: A press conference was held at the headquarters of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile in Dharamsala, at 3 p.m. today. Members of the Tibetan Parliament, including the deputy speaker and her staff, warmly welcomed the spokesperson of the Himachal Pradesh Parliament (Vidhan Sabha, H.P.) Shri. Tulsi Ram upon his arrival at the headquarters of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile.
The deputy speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Ms. Dolma Gyari, shed light on the main objective of his visit: “Although we have invited Mr. Tulsi Ram to visit our Parliament many times, he has not had a chance to visit us until today. "I would like to emphasize the strength of the ties between the Tibetan Parliament in Exile under the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the governing body of the state of Himachal Pradesh."
Shri. Tulsi Ram and his wife also visited the Tibetan Welfare Office based in McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala after granting interviews to Tibetan journalists. The speaker, Shri. Tulsi Ram, said that he had been greatly honored to extend an invitation to the Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to his State Parliament (Vidhan Sabha) last year. "I was thinking about the great friendship between the state of Himachal Pradesh and the Guru. His Holiness the Dalai Lama addressed our Parliament, shared his kind views, and that was unforgettable history to us."
"When the Tibetan Government in Exile was established in Dharamsala, it received ample support from the state of Himachal Pradesh. And further, when the Himachal Pradesh Parliament was in session, Mr. Tulsi Ram invited His Holiness to participate in the proceedings. This indicates an unwavering friendship,” said Dolma Gyari.
While asking Dolma Gyari about the importance of Mr. Tulsi Ram's meetings with the Tibetan Parliament, she said, "Our relations with the people of the state of Himachal Pradesh is a very special one, and it is essential because such a large number of Tibetans are sheltered by the state; the Tibetan Government in Exile is based here in Himachal. The relationship between our two Parliaments is also very important as the first Indian Parliamentary support group for Tibet was formed in this state and all of its members joined the group in support of the Tibetan cause."
