Dharamshala — A 64 year old Tibetan man concluded his bicycle rally in Dharamshala on Monday, to raise awareness about the critical situation in Tibet, where the Chinese government aims to eradicate the very identity of Tibetans from the root through indoctrination in colonial-style boarding schools.

The 64 year old Tibetan man called Jamyang Tenzin, who lives in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, launched his fourth cycle rally from Khardung La, in Ladakh, to Dharamshala, which began on May 23, 2024, marking the 73rd anniversary of the forced signing of the 17th Point Agreement, under threat of military reprisals from China.

"The aim of this rally is to raise awareness about the critical situation in Tibet, where the Chinese government aims to eradicate the very identity of Tibetans from the root through indoctrination in colonial-style boarding schools," the Tibetan father said while arriving in Dharamsala, on June 17, 2024.

Jamyang Tenzin explained, "Starting from Khardung La, Ladakh, which borders Tibet, I seek to highlight the importance of an independent Tibet in maintaining India's security against Chinese intrusion. Since China's illegal occupation of Tibet, India has faced repeated border issues from China, making an independent Tibet crucial for India's security and that of other Asian countries."

"This rally also aims to inspire younger Tibetans, fostering patriotism and activism among them to contribute to the Tibetan cause" The Tibetan father said.

Speaking about his experience on the road, he said: "I met many people, they were very supportive and encouraging, I thanked them and urged them to support the Tibetan cause, to help solve the Tibet-China issue and to enable His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people to return to Tibet.

The Tibetan father Jamyang Tenzin issued three demands to governments of China and India:

1. Demand the Chinese communist regime return Tibet to Tibetans, its rightful owners.
2: Demand the Chinese communist regime cease oppressive policies aimed at erasing Tibetan culture and identity.
3. Urge the government and people of India to support Tibet's just cause, recognizing its significance in securing india's borders.

Jamyang started his first bicycle in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, on October 12, 2023 and reached Bodh Gaya, Bihar, on November 14, 2023, covering 3,000 km. His second bicycle started from Bylakuppe, Karnataka on December 1, 2023 and reached Dekyiling, Uttarakhand on January 8, 2024, covering 3,000 km.
