New York — His Holiness the Dalai Lama had a very successful knee operation, his personal physician Dr Tsetan D Sadutshang confirmed, accompanied by Tenzin Taklha, Secretary to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Everyone was overjoyed at the good news. Tibetans and people around the world have been praying for the success of his knee treatment over the past days.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama's personal physician Dr. Tsetan D Sadutshang, accompanied by Mr. Tenzin Taklha, Secretary to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, gives a short briefing on His Holiness's condition after having total knee replacement surgery this morning.
Dr Tseten said, "We would like to inform everyone that His Holiness the Dalai Lama's knee surgery this morning was very successful, and His Holiness is now resting in his hospital room,His Holiness 's condition is stable."
"There was no problem at all, all the doctors and nurses in the Hospital are giving their service in the highest standard to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness is ready to take his luch right now. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. Therefore, please feel at ease, everyone," the Doctor added.
Since the announcement that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will travel to the United States for knee treatment in June 2024, Tibetan communities in India and around the world, especially in monasteries in India and followers of His Holiness the Dalai Lama around the world, have been holding prayer sessions for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the success of his knee treatment.
On 28 June 2024, hours before His Holiness the Dalai Lama undergoes knee surgery, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian and Buddhist religious leaders held a prayer session at the main Tibetan temple in Dharamshala from 3.30pm to 4.30pm to pray for world peace and a successful knee operation for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The prayer session is being organised by the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association, Dharamshala.
