Dharamshala — His Holiness the Dalai Lama leaves New Delhi today from Dharamshala to travel to the United States, spending one night in Switzerland. This time, he will be travelling to the United States for medical treatment for his knees.
Hundreds of Tibetans and devotees carrying white scarves (Khatas) and Tibetan incense sticks lined up the streets of the main Tibetan temple, Gankyi, and the airport to pay their respects to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and pray for the success of his knee operation in the United States.
Since the announcement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's trip to the United States for medical treatment of his knees in June 2024, Tibetans in Dharamshala and around the world began to hold prayer sessions and recite prayers for the safety of the trip and the success of his knee operation in the United States.
According to reports, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has not scheduled teachings or meetings with the general public in the United States so far, as he will be resting after knee surgery. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to teach in Dharamshala in September and October, 2024, after his return to India, according to the office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
