Brussels: - A meeting was held in Antwerpen, Belgium to discuss plans to organise rally and protest for Tibet on 10 March 2013. Tibetan repsentatives from all over Europe were gathered in Antwerpen, on 24 Nov, 2012 for the meeting.
The meeting was aimed at carrying out focusing with an effective collaboration in rally and protest events to commemorate the 54th Anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day.
"Ven Thubten Wangchen and Ms Chungdak Koren, the members of Tibetan parliament from Europe, the presidents and the representatives of the Tibetan communities and the Tibetan NGOs in Europe were attended the urgent meeting in Antwerpen, Belgium," said a statement issued after the meeting.
The day long meeting was also aimed to discuss the upcoming 10th march 2013 and Tibet Lobby Day in Brussels on the occasion of Tibetan national uprising day.
It was unanimously decided that the Tibetan communities and NGOs in Europe will organize 10 March, 2013 together.
The preliminary meeting was attended by the presidents and the representatives from the Tibetan communities and NGOs from 10 different European countries.
The presidents and the representatives of five Tibetan communities could not make it to the meeting but expressed their full support to the decision taken during the meeting.
The meeting was hosted by the Tibetan Community in Belgium and organize committe of 10th March.
In 1959, the occupying Chinese troops suppressed the Tibetan national uprising in Lhasa and forced His Holiness the Dalai Lama and over 80,000 Tibetans into exile in India and neighbouring countries after a failed uprising against the Chinese occupation of Tibet.
Some 150,000 Tibetans live in exile around the world, with over 100,000 living in India.
Meanwhile, the situation in Tibet is reportedly becoming more critical as tense in recent days after the Chinese authorities had imposed heavy restrictions on the local Tibetan communities and monasteries; including banning local and monks from offering condolences and prayers for those who have died in self-immolation protests.
The latest self-immolation incidents have pushed the total number to 85, including nine in a week and 23 within this month alone.
China cut off internet in area of Tibetan unrest, including self-immolations. From recent months, the Internet connections and mobile phone signals were cut off in Kham and Amdho regions of eastern Tibet (Chinese: Xinghai and Sichuan).
Since the beginning of the tragic incdent in 2009, mapping exactly what is happening inside Tibet has been very difficult. Reports of tragic incident often comes via accounts posted on social networking sites, accompanied by grainy camera phone footage.
The Chinese regime has been banned international tourists and journalists from entering the all parts of Tibet, as part of the regime's efforts to prevent international news organizations from covering Tibetan demonstrations.
