Photo: TPI Dharamshala: A press conference was held today by Tibetan Women's Association (TWA) to present its central and regional chapters' strategic action plans for the 2011 Prime Ministerial Election in Dharamshala. A question and answer session was conducted between executives of TWA and Tibetan media.

In her opening address, Dolkar Lhamo Kirit, the president of TWA, stressed the importance of democracy in the upcoming elections, and elaborated on TWA's large-scale ‘Straw Poll / Mock Election', a global campaign of direct outreach and education about non-partisanship and transparency in the election process.

Dolkar Lhamo was careful to stress that "endorsing candidates for Prime Ministership is not particularly important," in comparison to promoting a fair and democratic election process. "The main purpose of our campaign is to provide Tibetans with education and workshops to ensure all Tibetans take part in the election."
