Taiwanese University to Host Tibet Uprising Day Remembrance Events

03march20101Taipei: The National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan, will host a series of events this month to mark the 51st Anniversary of Tibet Uprising Day on March 10.

Organised by the Tibet Religious Foundation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in collaboration with the Taiwan branch of the International Preparatory Office of the Sino-Tibetan Friendship Association, the schedule will include lectures, seminars and film screenings.

On March 4, Mr Dawa Tsering, chairman of the Tibet Religious Foundation, will be joined by Mr Qian Da, general secretary of the Democratic Solidarity Union, for a talk on the Sino-Tibetan relationship.

On March 13, 16 and 18, Mr Weng Shijie, formerly of the Taiwan-Tibet Exchange Foundation, will speak about the origins of Buddhism and its spread in China and Tibet.

On March 24, Professor Pan Meiling of Jiao Tong University, and Tashi Tsering, chairman of the Tibetan Youth Congress in Taiwan, will hold a talk on the survival and livelihood of exiled Tibetans in India.

The events are open to all members of the public with an interest in Tibetan issues.
