Sikyong Pays Courtesy Visit to New Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh

new-CM-Sikyong-2013-january-10Dharamshala: - Dr Lobsang Sangay, the political leader of Tibetan people (Sikyong) paid a courtesy visit to Shri Virbhadra Singh, new chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday, January 9, at the circuit house in the Himalayan township of Dharamshala.

Sikyong Dr Sangay was accompanied by Mr Tsering Dhondup, Kalon for the Department of Finance, Central Tibetan Administration, according to a report by the Central Tibetan Administraiton.

Sikyong presented a traditional Tibetan ceremonial scarf and a Tibetan thangka painting to Shri Virbhadra Singh as a token of greeting and congratulation for assuming the office of the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh.

The chief minister also honoured Sikyong Dr Sangay with a traditional Himachali shawl and a cap.

Shri Sudhir Sharma, Urban Development and Town and Country Planning minister was also present at the meeting.

On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and Tibetan people, Dr Lobsang Sangay congratulated Shri Virbhadra Singh who was sworn-in as the state's new chief minister in last month. Mr Virbhadra Singh, is a long-time supporter of Tibetans and the issue of Tibet.
