Mumbai — The Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama has announced that the spiritual leader of Tibet has cancelled a coming visit to the Republic of Botswana, scheduled for August 15-20 this year. Exhaustion was the reason cited for the cancellation.

Canberra — "We are not against Chinese developmental projects in Tibet per se, but we propose that the real beneficiaries of any development must be Tibetans in Tibet," President Dr Lobsang Sangay said during a meeting of the the human Rights Sub Committee of the Australian Parliament on August 9, 2017.

New Delhi — The spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, joined a discussion on the Nature of Consciousness between Russian and Buddhist scholars held on August 8-9.

Dharamshala — “What we are saying is, ‘These are the provisions in the Chinese constitution that say what Tibetans are entitled to. That’s your law. Implement that and we’ll take that as autonomy,’ said the democratically elected President, Sikyong Lobsang Sangay, during his visit to Australia where he is meeting with the International Commission of Jurists.

New Delhi — His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Saturday congratulated Venkaiah Naidu on his election as the 13th Vice-President of India and expressed confidence that Naidu's years of experience in public life will serve him well as he takes up the important constitutional role of Vice President.

New Delhi — Explaining there have been Chinese troops on the India-Tibet border since the so-called liberation of Tibet where there were none before, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said: 'China says they want stability and unity, yet the methods they employ give rise to fear. When there's fear, there's no trust and where there's no trust how can you expect to create peace, harmony, stability?'
