Dharamshala: Ela Ghandi may travel to India to bestow Tibet's spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Gandhi Award for Reconciliation and Peace. The Dalai Lama was scheduled to travel to South Africa to accept the award in person, however the trip was cancelled after South Africa failed to grant him a visa.

Dharamsala, HP, India, 8 October 2011 - The spiritual leder of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has congratulated the 2011 Noble Peace Prize recipients - H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirlef, Ms. Leymah Gbowee and Ms. Tawakul Karman, for being jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dharamsala: - On September 5, His Holiness the Dalai Lama's representative in the United States, Lobsang Nyandak, made a written request to United Nations (UN) general secretary, Mr Ban Ki Moon, that the UN and all its member states address the current situation in Tibet. The request was made on behalf of His Holiness and the Central Tibetan Administration in India.
