1jun2010Dharamshala: Lotus Productions and Integral Films will co-produce a 3D animated docu-fiction on the Dalai Lama that French director Jan Kounen will helm, Indiantelevision.com reports.

Previously announced as "The Secret History of the Dalai Lamas," the film is now titled "The Last Call" and will be co-directed by Kounen and Anne Paris, based on a script written by Jean-Claude Carriere.

"The Last Call" will focus on Tibetan culture and the history of the Dalai Lama through time, featuring real documentary footage and interviews with the current Dalai Lama plus fictionalized representations. And the $4.9 million film will be shot in October and November this year.

"The film will look at the lives of all the Dalai Lamas, and the philosophy espoused by them," Manuel Collas de La Roche, a paris-based producer of the proposed film and a former Tibetan Buddhist monk, earlier told Deccan Herald.

According to earlier media reports, the filmmakers will also try to get Sharon Stone, the actress who practices Tibetan Buddhism. Apparently, she will act as a narrator, while another practicing Buddhist Richard Gere is also likely to be a part of the film.

And the filmmakers were also said to be planning to rope the father-son duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan to star in the film.
