30th Regional Tibetan Association formed in North America

11 January 2013 004Massachusets: - Amherst Regional Tibetan Association has now officially become the 30th Tibetan Association in North America. It is located in North Hampton in the state of Massachusetts with around 100 Tibetan people.

According to the Central Tibetan Administration media Tibet Net, an inauguration function was held on January 05, 2013 presided over by Representative Mr. Lobsang Nyandak. The President of the two neighbor Tibetan Association of Boston & Connecticut have also joined the inauguration.

The Interim executive members are President Thupten Choeden, Vice President Lobsang Dhondup, General Secretary Kunga Rinchen, Passang Norbu, Lhamo Tsering, Tsering Dorjee & Dawa Tsering. They will hold election for new Executive board members at the end of their interim tenure of one year.

Representative Lobsang Nyandak offered traditional scarf to the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, followed by the community members. A short prayer service and a minute's silence was held for the Tibetans who lost their lives for Tibet.

Interim President Mr Choeden gave a brief welcome speech followed by Mr Dawa Tsering giving a detailed account of the efforts put into forming the Tibetan Association. While appreciating the detailed account of the Association, Representative Mr Lobsang Nyandak stressed the importance of working in close cooperation to fulfill the dream of the Association.

Mr Nyandak also called on the public to remember the gratitude of His Holiness, and be aware of the fact that His Holiness and the Central Tibetan Administration never discriminate or discourage those who hold different viewpoints in our approach towards resolving of Tibetan issue.
