Dharamshala — The Human Rights Watch released it’s the world report 2026 on Wednesday and states, “Chinese authorities systematically deny the rights to freedom of expression, association, assembly, and religion, and persecute government critics. Tightened Chinese Communist Party (“Party”) ideological control has been accompanied by harsh forced assimilation of Tibetans and Uyghurs and by imposition of a repressive national security regime in Hong Kong.”

Dharamshala — His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Spiritual leader of Tibet, received the Grammy Award for Best Audiobook narration - Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The album includes his reflections on heart, oneness, harmony, kindness, mind, health, water, essebce and peace. His Holiness said,"I truly believe that peace, compassion, care for our environment, and an understanding of the oneness of humanity are essential for the collective well-being of all eight billion human beings."

Washington, D.C. — "Tibet Was Never Part of China Since Antiquity" is a book by Professor Hon-Shiang Lau that challenges the PRC's claim to historical sovereignty over Tibet. The author used Chinese historical records and proved that Tibet was independent country prior to 1950, countering the narrative that "Tibet has been part of China since ancient times".

New York — The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has published its census of prisoners for the year 2025 on January 21, 2025. They stated that more than 300 journalists were imprisoned worldwide and China was the world’s worst jailer of journalists in 2025 with 50 held in 2025.

London — Over 1000 people, including Tibetans, Uyghurs, Hong Kongers, Taiwanese, local residents, diplomats, politicians and legislators, gathered at the Royal Mint Court in London on January 17, 2025, to protest against the Chinese Communist Party's plan to build a mega-embassy. These peaceful protesters warned the British government that this mega-embassy threatens not only Tibetans, Uyghurs, Hong Kongers and Taiwanese living in the UK, as well as the safety of dissidents and activists, but also British sovereignty and national security.

Dharamshala — The bipartisan and bicameral Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC), released the Commission’s 2025 Annual Report reviewing human rights conditions and legal developments in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in December, 2025. The report states,"The PRC continued to restrict and seek to control the religious practices of Tibetans, particularly practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism. PRC officials exercise political control and supervision of Tibetan Buddhist monastic and educational institutions."
