Dharamshala — People from all over the world send their best wishes to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 89th birthday, including country leaders, Nobel laureate, members of parliament, politicians, social activists, human rights defenders, journalists, writers, climate activists, traders and Tibetans inside from Tibet and in Diaspora.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wishes His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 89th birthday on July 6, 2024 and wrote on his account X (Twitter): "sent my greetings to His Holiness DalaiLama on the occasion of his 89th birthday. Pray for his quick recovery after knee surgery, good health and long life."

Secreatry Blinken wishes His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 89th birthday, "The United States extends best wishes to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the occasion of his 89th birthday. Through his promotion of nonviolence and compassion, as well as his commitment to advancing human rights for all, his Holiness serves as an inspiration for the Tibetan community and many around the world. U.S. Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, Under Secretary Uzra Zeya: "Today we wish Dalai Lama a happy 89th birthday and reflect on his universal message of peace, compassion, and human dignity. We stand by His Holiness and the Tibetan community as they seek to preserve Tibetans' distinct cultural, religious, and linguistic heritage."

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi wrote her X account: "Today, happily I join so many in sending warmest birthday wishes to His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama. His Holiness is a pillar of strength and hope for millions around the world. At the same time, my thoughts and prayers are also with the Tibetan people as we stand with them against heightened aggression from the Chinese government. And let us continue to pray for the Dalai Lama’s swift recovery from recent surgery."

Representative Jim McGovern wrote: “On his 89th birthday, I send greetings and thanks to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his lifetime of compassionate leadership, commitment to peace and non-violence, and advocacy to protect our shared planet. Arif Virani, the minister of justice and attorney general of Canada wrote: “Happy birthday to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama! I was honoured to join Tibetan community members at the TCCC to celebrate this momentous day. I wish His Holiness a wonderful birthday and prosperous year ahead. May he celebrate many more birthdays in good health.”

Taiwan Presidential Office Spokesperson Li Wen wrote: “On this auspicious day, we wish His Holiness the Dalai Lama a Happy Birthday! And your message of compassion inspires all who care deeply about humanitarianism, peace and democracy. May the friendship between the Taiwanese and Tibetan people endure and prosper.”
