Dharamshala - The Tibetan government's Department of Education released its first ever animated film, The Forgetful Aku Phakpa, and a Tibetan dubbed version of Buddha’s Sutra, Life of Buddha on June 21st.
Ngodup Tsering, the Department of Education Kalon and other prominent staff members of CTA attended the ceremony. The third grade students of Mewoen Petoen School were called to represent the main audience of the newly launched Tibetan animated film. The film is a representation of Tibetan culture and identity, art and much more.
The chief guest in his launch speech said, "there are very few such animation and cartoon films produced by and in Tibetan language. Although ours is not as good as the western animation film, but still the launch of this one is a massive step forward and we should be all very proud of it". He further added,"through this platform, I would like to request Tibetan parents settled anywhere to encourage their child to speak in Tibetan language and to let them see more of Tibetan animated films."
The project was funded by Global Affairs Canada, produced by the Department of Education and created by Jamphel Animation. Buddha’s Sutra, originally in Hindi was dubbed in Tibetan and translated by Acharya Karma Monlam, Chair of the High Level Standardizing Board.
