Tibetan political leaders congratulates Siddaramaiah on becoming Chief Minister of Karnataka

Dharamshala – Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration and Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, congratulated Siddaramaiah on becoming Chief Minister of Karnataka once again and expressed their deep gratitude to him and the people of the state for the support given to the Tibetan communities and monasteries in Karnataka for over six decades.

Sikyong ( President ) Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, representing Tibetans around the world, sent a congratulatory letter to the new Chief Minister of Karnaraka, Siddaramaiah, on May 22, 2023, and expressed their gratitude to the government and people of Karnaraka for their warm and friendly support to the Tibetans in this difficult time.

Sikyong wrote, “It is my great pleasure and honour to extend, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, particularly the Tibetan community in Karnataka, our heartiest congratulations on your appointment as Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka and your party’s electoral victory."

“Karnataka has always led by example in supporting the Tibetan people. Today, it is home to prominent Buddhist monasteries and the largest Tibetan settlements in exile. As a proud Tibetan born and raised in the Bylakuppe Lugsung Samdupling Tibetan Settlement and on behalf of the Tibetan people, I reiterate our sincere appreciation to the Karnataka government and its people for their generosity and support. Additionally, I would like to express our profound gratitude for the support and initiatives you provided to the Tibetan community in Karnataka during your tenure as Chief Minister,” the Sikyong said.

the Speaker wrote, “Your re-election as the Chief Minister of Karnataka clearly reflects your leadership quality and the confidence the people entrusted in you. Your achievements and selfless service towards India and especially the people of Karnataka over the years are commendable and as are your present commitments.”

“His Holiness the Dalai Lama has met former Chief Ministers of Karnataka and likewise, the delegation of Tibetan Parliamentary group had the privilege to meet you in 2018 during our advocacy campaign on Tibet. We thank you for advocating the cause of Tibet and urge you to continue with your staunch support,” the Speaker mentioned.

“Karnataka State has the largest Tibetan settlements in India and I want to avail this opportunity to express our deepest and profound gratitude to the people and the government of Karnataka for the unwavering support to the Tibetans residing there,” he added.

“I congratulate you once again and may your future endeavours to fulfil the aspirations of your people bear fruit to the best of your satisfaction,” the speaker concluded.
