15 Tibetan cooperatives' conference in Mundgod lauds achievements

Tibet-FTCI-Mundgod-India-2017Mundgod — Over 60 Tibetan co-operators including Chairmen and Secretaries of 15 co-operatives, managers and staff of Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives in India Ltd., met on Tuesday for the 17th Annual Conference of Tibetan cooperatives in India.

Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang, Home Kalon, CTA presided over as a Chief Guest to mark the opening of the conference of 15 Tibetan Cooperatives at Doeguling Settlement, Mundgod in South India, on 22nd August, 2017.

Also present were Geshe Lobsang Phendey, Tibetan Parliamentarian, Chimey Rinzin, Secreatry, DOH, CTA and Choephel Thupten, Chief Representative, South Zone Bangalore, Sirsi DCC Bank Managing Director and representatives of various monasteries and non-governmental organizations.

"Over 60 Tibetan co-operators including Chairman, Secretary and Board member of 15 co-operatives, Executives of Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives in India Ltd., have come to take part in the Conference," Tenzin Yega, CEO of FTCI said in a statement.

During the function, Yega said that "Mundgod Cooperative Soceity was honored by FTCI for the successful completion of 50 years of community service. 10 of the Nyamdel Scholarship Winners were also declared through lucky draw and a book on "50th Anniversary of Mundgod Cooperative Society" was unveiled by the Chief Guest."

"During the conference, 15 co-operatives present their annual report and financial statement, followed by question and answer session," it stated, adding: "Also, review on implementation of resolutions passed in the previous meeting is done."

On the following day, the participants also have discussed on "agendas in-group and submit their report and subsequently resolutions are passed for implementation."

On the final day, according to Yega, certificate of appreciation was presented to four of the cooperatives under the following categories;

  1. Best service provided to its members in the financial year 2016-17
  2. For earning gross profit in every sections of the cooperative society and net profit for the cooperative society in the financial year 2016-17
  3. Starting a new business activity in the financial year 2016-17
  4. Exemplary presentation of 2016-17 Annual Report and Annual Financial Statement

Organized by FTCI and coordinated by Mundgod Co-operative Society from 22nd to 24th August, the statement also said that "the 3-day conference is held to deliberate on agendas concerning establishment of sustainable Tibetan settlements and and enhancing the business activities of Tibetan cooperative societies."

"Discussion on revival of existing business units, new project, efforts to secure financial assistance from the respective state government and central government for benefit of share members and general public are also made during the conference.," it concluded.

At the same venue, 2nd Quarter Board Meeting of FTCI and 13th General Body Meeting of FTCI was held on 19th, 20th and 21st August respectively.
