Dharamshala — The first ever Tibetan photography magazine, In Frame, was launched yesterday, July 4th, at Hotel Tibet in Mcloed Ganj in order to encourage and publicize more the photographs taken by Tibetan photographers.
The magazine's launch was attended by the Minister of Education Department, Ngodup Tsering as main guest, the curator of the magazine Kalsang Jigme and his team members, and several other interested individuals as audience.
Kalsang Jigme began the event, introducing the new magazine and said, "Our community has many photographers but their pictures never really gets much publicized. So one of the reasons to start this photography magazine is to give a platform for their work. All the working members of this magazine were brought up here in India so by the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and our exile government, all of us had the opportunity to receive good education, so we are trying our best to serve the community with our work. We will try to preserve our history and document our existing community through the lens of our camera".
He further added, "The composition of the winners of the In Frame photography competition was done by Tsering Namgyal la, the photographer of our magazine and the articles were all written by our Editor Tenzin Choedon la and the assistant editor Pasang Dolma la. The pictures were all printed by Norbu Graphics based in New Delhi.
The Minister of Education Department, Mr. Ngodup Tsering highly appreciated the In Frame team's way of working for the community, saying, "It is not possible for our exile government to provide jobs to all the graduates so becoming such self reliant and to be able to start up one's own line of work is highly admired. Doing this also meets with one of the three principles of Kashag and moreover the advise of His Holiness the Dalai Lama."
In Frame consists of all different types of photography, information for amateur photographers and photographs from Tibetans settled in different parts of the world like Tsering Woeser from Tibet, Tashi Topgyal from India, Kunchok from Australia, photographer Sonam Zomsel and many others.
