Geneva — Some 159 organizations submitted a joint petition to the United Nations urging it to press China for the immediate release of the 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, and his entire family.
London, UK — The author of “In the Service of the 13th and the 14th Dalai Lamas: Choegyal Nyima Lhundrup Kashopa – Untold Stories of Tibet” who was educated in Tibet, India and Beijing, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at King's College Hospital in south London following infected with Wuhan-coronavirus. He was 81.
Dharamshala, India — To mark the 61st anniversary of the Tibetan national uprising day, President Dr Lobsang Sangay said: "People of Tibet on 10th March 1959 revolted against China’s illegal occupation of a sovereign Tibet."
Bodhgaya, India — Turning to historical relations between Tibet and India in the 7th and 8th centuries, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said that despite close relations with China, emperors of Tibet chose to introduce Buddhism to Tibet directly from India and chose to develop a Tibetan written script modeled on the ancient Indian Devanagari alphabet.
