Paris, France —In light of the EU-China Summit next month in Beijing, 23 international nongovernmental organizations including Reporters Without Borders (RSF) urged the E.U. leaders to place human rights at the core of their discussion with China.
Washington DC — The United States of America has announced that it is withdrawing from the United Nations Human Rights Council, strongly criticised the Council for its failures in "essential reforms in order to make the council a serious advocate for human rights" around the world.
Geneva — UN human rights experts have strongly condemned a five-year jail sentence handed to Mr Tashi Wangchuk, a Tibetan language rights advocate by a Chinese court for his work promoting cultural and linguistic rights of the Tibetan people.
Dharamshala — The US State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) in Washington DC released its annual report on the status of global human rights on April 20, claiming that human rights in Tibet have continued to deteriorate.
