Bath, Maine, US: - Hopes for international solidarity behind Tibetan political goals recently met another setback when China was elected to an uncontested regional seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council. Although the importance of foreign financial support should not be discounted, concrete measures to apply pressure on China to resolve human rights violations in Tibet has been in short supply.

Dharamshala: In all parts of occupied Tibet, the suffering of the Tibetan people under Chinese rule grows day by day. Gross violations of basic rights and the freedom to practice religion and culture are endemic, and the situation has been long known to whole world.

Dharamshala: - During the past 10 years, President of China, Hu Jintao, has strongly propagated a 'harmonious society' and 'a path of reform and opening up' which in turn would generate equality for everyone. There is still hope the leadership might bring a new perspective on Tibet before his decade-long presidency.

Dharamshala: I had decided that I would intern with the Tibet Post International (TPI) ever since some volunteers of Students For A Free Tibet came to my college to raise awareness about the Tibetan cause last year. A few contacts who highly praised the newspaper also informed my decision to intern in McLeodganj.
