Dharamshala: The 'Lhasa Intermediate People's Court' sentenced two monks from Drepung monastery to heavy prison terms in June for their activities in the March 2008 uprising, according to a report by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD).

Dharamshala: A third editor of the Tibetan journal Dhusrab kyi Nga (Century's Self) has been arrested by the Chinese authorities in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Mr Joleb Dawa (38), from Tagkatsang village, Ngaba county, eastern Tibet, was detained on October 1 and is thought to be being held somewhere in Ngaba.

Dharamshala: Wangdu Gyatso, a Tibetan monk, was sentenced to 13 years' imprisonment by a local intermediate people's court in Chamdho, eastern Tibet, on September 8, according to information received by The Tibet Post International.

Dharamshala: A Chinese court in Bharkham, eastern Tibet, has sentenced two editors of the local school magazine Namchak on charges of incitement to split the country and encouraging students to participate in 'splittist' activities. Two other editors have been detained on similar charges.

Dharamsala: One Tibetan has been killed and around 35 severely wounded after Chinese security forces opened fire on demonstrators in Palyul County, Dege, eastern Tibet.

Dharamshala: New internet censorship rules imposed in Tibet this month are just another in a succession of attempts by Chinese authorities to monitor and limit the amount of information and opinions accessed by and shared between Tibetan people. All computers in the so-called Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) which are intended for use by the public must install new state-of-the-art surveillance software by the end of August.
