Dharamshala: Human development was at the heart of last year's deadly mudslide at Druchu, in the province of Amdo, eastern Tibet, said recently a Chinese top researcher, Jiang Giaoming. The disaster, which happened last August, killed 1,239 people while more than 505 went missing.

Dharamshala: Impulsed by the so called Grassland Law adopted in 1985, and then completed by a series of programs and various guidelines such as the "Tuimu Huancao" ("removing animals to grow grass") and the "Tuigeng Huanlin" ("returning Farmland to Forest") policies, the resettlement of millions of nomads in Tibet is not yet to end. According to the so called regional government, another 185 000 families are expected to move into new homes by 2013.

Dharamshala: China claimed that it wants to double the annual number of tourists visiting Tibet by the year 2015. According to a state media, more than 20 millions of tourists, among which 1 million of foreigners, have visited the region during the past five years. The number of visits has increased by 30,6% every year since 2006.

Dharamshala: Two Tibetan monks from Meldro Gungkar county, central Tibet died after being released from Chinese prison said a report from Tibet received on Wednesday. They were in a very bad state after being tortured, beaten and insulted by Chinese authorities. Thupten was arrested during the 1989 peaceful protest in Lhasa, which reportedly caused the deaths of hundreds of Tibetans and the arrest of thousands more.

Dharamshala: The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD), today released its annual comprehensive report on the situation Tibetans within Tibet are experiencing. The report covers all areas of human rights violations in Tibet including language genocide, civil liberty infringements, religious restrictions and cultural discrimination. The report is very damning of China's treating of Tibetans through-out 2010, citing a continuing backlash to the uprising in 2008 as well as attempts to eradicate the Tibetan culture for China's increasing human right violations.

Dharamshala: Tenpa Lodoe, pseudonym Gang-ga Champo, a well-known Tibetan writer and the editor of 'Walk-Forward' (Dhunkyod) was arrested recently by Chinese Security Bureau Officials in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet (Chinese; Tibet Autonomous Region, TAR).

Dharamshala: Famous Tibetan female writer, Tsering Woeser Tuesday (23 Nov) said that her blog; www.woeser.middle-way.net, Twitter, Gmail account, and facebook were attacked by unknown hackers."On my online network events are not accessible from this morning: passwords for my blog, Twitter, Gmail, Facebook have been hacked," she said.
