Dharamshala — Chinese government has forcibly shut down the most popular school for Tibetan students, the Gangjong Sherig Norbu School, where Tibetan students from three regions of Tibet come to study and where the graduates are well-trained students who do excellent work in Tibetan societies. The teachers and students cried so hard that they could not control their sadness at the closure of their beloved school after 30 years.

Dharamshala — Tibetans in Tibet celebrated the 89th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in secret and in a less obvious way. Although the Chinese authorities tried to ban the celebration of His Holiness' birthday in Tibet, Tibetans took courage to show their unshakeable faith and love for their spiritual leader. One Tibetan neitzen wrote: "I cried many times when I heard your voice", and another wrote: "I wish you a long life from afar".

The Chinese government, as well as Chinese companies like ByteDance, restricts the use of the Tibetan language, whenever they go live, Tibetans have to speak in Chinese, otherwise the Douying authorities will stop the Tibetan livestream, and many Tibetans expressed anger and helplessness at the ban on speaking Tibetan in Douying.

Dharamshala — The Chinese government has introduced a new law that will tighten control over all forms of information on the Internet, and which will come into force on August 1, 2024. This law will prevent people from freely sending messages, images, audio and video, and will force them to be very careful when sending information. Any information considered illegal by the Chinese authorities will be subject to arrest, torture and imprisonment.

Dharamshala — On World Music Day, Students for a Free Tibet-India (SFT) held an evening of solidarity with Tibetan musicians censored in Tibet, to show its solidarity with Tibetan singers and musicians who have been arrested, imprisoned and tortured by the Chinese authorities for exercising their freedom of expression by singing Tibetan songs, patriotic songs and songs about His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
