Dharamshala — Chinese authorities in Tibet stepped up their political propaganda in Tibetan monasteries, schools and villages. They inscribed “be grateful to the CCP, listen to the CCP and follow the CCP”, on the gates and walls of Monasteries. Sarcastically, the Chinese authorities want Tibetans to be loyal to the CCP, after they invaded Tibet and killed their ancestors.
The Chinese authorities in Tibet have intensified their political propaganda in Tibet, inscribing “be grateful to the CCP, listen to the CCP and follow the CCP” on the walls of monasteries on May 20. 2025. The authorities also inscribing these in schools, on houses and in streets, hoisting Chinese flags on Tibetan homes, even if Tibetans don't want them to, placing large banners on buildings, writing “Four Consciousnesses”, in order to inculcate loyalty among Tibetans for the Chinese leadership.
The four consciousnesses are “Political consciousness,” “Consciousness of the overall situation,” “Consciousness of the core,” and “Compliance consciousness." The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) established these "four consciousnesses" to promote loyalty and adherence to the Party's leadership, especially Xi Jinping.
The Chinese government has intensified its attempts to propagate the so-called “thoughts of Chinese President Xi Jinping”, “Chinese Modern Socialism” and “Ideological and Political Education” among children in primary, secondary and higher education, as well as in universities, particularly Tibetan children in Chinese colonial-style boarding schools.
The Chinese authorities, school officials and political teachers held a meeting on June 3, 2024, in the Chinese government divided so called Qinghai Province, to step up activities, including the teaching of Xi Jinping's thought, Chinese socialism and the ideological and political education to students, particularly Tibetans.
The Chinese authorities also organised various activities to Tibetan children in Chinese boarding schools in Tibet, particularly, in all primary schools in Changgo Township, Saga County, Shigatse, Western Tibet, on October 15, 2024, to make Tibetan children think in Chinese, be loyal to the CCP and learn Chinese ideologies, especially Chinese President Xi's thought . These activities include instilling of "the sense of national security", "children's heart towards the party (CCP)", "children's deep love for the motherland (China)", and training Tibetan children in “law enforcement” and “national defense”.
Chinese authorites conducted major crackdowns on religious freedom in all parts of Tibet, continued over the years, and 269 Tibetan people were placed under investigation for allegedly involving in so-called "illegal spiritual practices", in 2024 and those arrested may face prison terms ranging from 5 to 17 years.
Chinese authorities in Wolong Township, Wenchuan County, eastern Tibet, forced Tibetan officials to sign a pledge: "not to believe in religion, not to participate in religious activities, never to promote or spread religion anywhere and always to listen to the Chinese Communist Party, be grateful to the Party, follow the Party".
The Chinese government has introduced a law to tighten control over all forms of information on the Internet from August 1, 2024. This law prevents people from freely sending messages, images, audio and video, and warning them to be very careful when sending information. Any information considered illegal by the Chinese authorities will be subject to arrest, torture and imprisonment.
