Dharamshala: Senator Sarah Hanson-Young from the Greens party moved a motion on Tibet in the upper house of the Australian Parliament. The following motion was passed in the Senate on 20 March 2013.

That the Senate notes the Australian Government’s efforts to urge Chinese authorities to:

(a) address the underlying causes of tension in Tibetan regions;

(b) end the use of harsh policies, such as increased surveillance and violent crack downs, which have only exacerbated the security situation in Tibetan areas;

(c) lift restrictions on access to Tibetan regions, including for international media and diplomats; and

(d) resume substantive talks with the Dalai Lama’s representatives to prevent the situation deteriorating further.

Dharamshala: - The Central Tibetan Administration offered long life prayers (Tenshug) to His Eminence the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorjee, the head of Kamtsang Kagyu school of Kagyu tradition, during a ceremony at Gyuto monastery in Dharamshala on 4 February.

Kalon Pema Chhinjor of the Department of Religion and Culture, in the presence of over 300 monks and delegates, presented Gyalwang Karmapa with auspicious offerings for his long life, according to CTA news media 'Tibet Net.'

Other dignitaries present at the ceremony include two members of parliament from Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism.

As a part of its initiative to offer Tenshug to all the heads of the Buddhist traditions of Tibet.

The Department of Religion and Culture has so far presented long life prayers to H. E. Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, H.E. Menri Trizin Rinpoche, H.E. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, H.E. Drigung Chetsang Rinpoche, and H.E. Gaden Tripa Rinpoche.

Dharamshala: - Ram Vilas Paswan, the president of the Lok Janshakti party pledged full support to the Tibet issue at a meeting with the north-zone Tibetan Parliamentary delegation.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, he said, the Tibet situation is a vital issue for India. The Indian people and my party has always supported the cause of Tibet and we will raise the issue of Tibet in the Indian Parliament.

According to the exile Tibetan administration Tibet Net, the north-zone Tibetan Parliamentary delegation include Dawa Tsering, Yeshi Dolma, Mogru Tempa and Ghang Lhamo. They are currently in Patna, Bihar as part of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile's solidarity with Tibet lobby campaign.

Patna: Local Indians and Tibetan sweater sellers in Patna held a candle light vigil and a solidarity rally on the third day of the north-zone Tibetan parliamentary delegation's lobby campaign.

The rally was organised by the Tibetan parliamentary delegation along with the India-Tibet co-ordination office of Bihar, according to the exile Tibetan administration media, Tibet Net.

The solidarity rally was held in memory of all those Tibetans who set themselves on fire, said Jivender, the chairman of the India Tibet office, Bihar. Meanwhile, Abhishek Gupta, the president of the Patna college students association expressed solidarity with the suffering of the Tibetans inside Tibet.

The Parliamentary delegation also held a press conference in the afternoon.

New Delhi: - As part of the All India Solidarity with Tibet lobby campaign, Tibetan parliamentarians including Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Juchen Kunchok Choedon and Dawa Phunkyi met a string of parliamentarians from both houses of the Indian parliament.

The Tibetan parliamentary delegation appealed to the Indian parliamentarians to express support for the cause of Tibet and urged them to join the Tibetan people's solidarity campaign which will be held from 30 January- 2 February 2013 at New Delhi. The Tibetan people's solidarity campaign is a joint initiative of the Kashag and the Tibetan Parilament-in-exile.

The delegation met 15 members of Parliament from across the spectrum of Indian political parties. The Indian parliamentarians also expressed solidarity with the critical situation inside Tibet and assured unwavering support for Tibet.

Dharamshala: - As part of Harvard Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research, a group of 16 mid-career students from Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Kennedy School visited Dharamsala for one day on January 15, 2013.

The trip to Dharamsala was scheduled as part of the program on purpose so that the students could get a feel of the working of the exile Administration and also meet face to face with Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, according to the exile administration media, Tibet Net.

The students interacted with the Sikyong for almost 2 hours, during which he touched on topics ranging from Tibetan self-immolations, the structure and working of the Central Tibetan Administration, the current political scenario in Tibet and his personal experiences.

The Sikyong also answered all the wide-ranging queries of the students.
