Washington, D.C. — The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) released its annual report on the religious freedom around the world in 2024. It states, "in 2024, religious freedom conditions in China remained among the worst in the world. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping continued to lead efforts to update and enforce China’s “sinicization of religion” policy, which requires the complete loyalty and subordination of recognized religious groups to the CCP, its political ideology, and its policy agenda."
Gold Mercrury Award presents to the Dalai Lama for his contribution to peace and compassion
Dharamshala — Gold Mercrury International presented the Gold Mercury Award 2025 to His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, on March 31, 2025, Dharashala, in recognition of his lifelong commitment to peace, compassion, non-violence, wisdom culture and environmental stewardship. It says, "In an era of rising conflict, division, and environmental crisis, the timeless wisdom of His Holiness the Dalai Lama is more urgent than ever."
His Holiness the Dalai Lama expresses his solidarity with the people of Myanmar
Dharamshala — His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his sadness about the devastating earthquake that has struck Myanmar leading to the loss of so many precious lives while many others have been injured. He writes, "I have asked the Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama to offer a donation through appropriate channels towards the rescue and relief efforts.”
Tibetan organisation sends legal notice to Guimet Museum concerning Tibet
Dharamshala — The Students for a Free Tibet France (association) has sent a formal notice, through its lawyers, to the Guimet museum and to Rachida Dati, the French Minister of Culture. After they failed to respond to the requests and protests of Tibetans in France concerning the removal of the term "Tibet" from its museum in favour of designations such as "Himalayan World".
