Dharamshala: Ahead of the 51st anniversary of a failed uprising by Tibetans against the invasion and annexation of their Himalayan country by the Communist regime of China, Nepal police Sunday arrested the representative of exiled Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Kathmandu.

Taipei: The organization Taiwan Friends of Tibet has launched a two-day campaign to educate Chinese tourists about the Tibet situation. The action started today in Taiwan's capital, Taipei, with the raising of two banners, reading "Let the Dalai Lama go home!" and "Stop cultural genocide in Tibet!"

Taipei: 10 March marks the 51st anniversary of the Tibetan uprising against Communist rule. Taiwan Friends of Tibet will join the Tibetan Welfare Association of Taiwan, the Tibet Youth Council of Taiwan in organizing a march to commemorate this important day when the Tibetan freedom struggle began.

Dharamshala: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 28 February respectfully sent message (letter) of sympathy and condolences to President Michelle Bachelet of Chile, expressing his sadness "by the loss of many lives and the extensive damage to roads and buildings as a result of the massive earthquake that struck Central Chile".

A Spanish judge yesterday dropped an investigation into China's crackdown on unrest that erupted in Tibet in March 2008, reports AFP.

Dharamshala: The Tibetan Government-in-exile Thursday afternoon held a panel discussion to mark the centenary of the 13th Dalai Lama Thupten Gyaltso's exile to India from 1910-1911.
