New Delhi — During the monsoon session of Indian Parliament, Sikkim MP Dorjee Tshering Lepcha urged the Central Government to call the India-Tibet border, not the India-China border, as a 1400 km long border running from Leh Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh and crossing Sikkim shares the border with Tibet, not China and he also called on the government to instruct all agencies, including the Army, GREF, BRO and other central government agencies, to use this name.

Washington DC — The Central Tibetan Administration and Tibetans around the world held events to express their gratitude to Representatives Jim McGovern and Michael McCaul, and Senators Todd Young and Jeff Markley for sponsoring the Resolve Tibet Act and to all U.S. lawmakers for supporting and passing the Act, as well as President Joe Biden for signing it into law. Sikyong Penpa Tsering expressed gratitude to US legislators in person for their support of the Resolve Tibet Act in Washington DC.

New York — His Holiness the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibet, has written individually to Roberta Metsola and Ursula von der Leyen to congratulate them on their recent re-election as President of the European Parliament and President of the European Commission respectively. His Holiness wishes them both every success in ensuring that the European Union remains a strong model for others to follow.

Hague — The judges of the Court of Citizens of the World recently held a ‘tribunal on China’ and the Court found sufficient legal grounds to charge the criminal Xi Jinping with crimes against humanity in Tibet; the forcible transfer of Tibetan children; imprisonment or other serious deprivations of physical liberty; and persecution of the Tibetan population. Therefore, the court has issued an arrest warrant for Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Washington, D.C. — US President Joe Biden signed the "Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act" into law on July 12, 2024. The law urges Chinese governement to resume the diolague with representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, democratically elected leaders of the Tibetan community, without preconditions. It also states, "claims made by officials of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party that Tibet has been a part of China since ancient times are historically inaccurate."

Today we celebrate the 89th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and we reaffirm our commitment to the cause of Tibet."
