Tibetan Spiritual Leader wins Grammy Award for his reflections on harmony and peace

Dharamshala — His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Spiritual leader of Tibet, received the Grammy Award for Best Audiobook narration - Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The album includes his reflections on heart, oneness, harmony, kindness, mind, health, water, essebce and peace. His Holiness said,"I truly believe that peace, compassion, care for our environment, and an understanding of the oneness of humanity are essential for the collective well-being of all eight billion human beings."

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, United States. Canadian-American singer, songwriter, and composer Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright accepted the Grammy Award on behalf of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and stated, "it was a privilege to participate in this project. It's an honor to accept this recognition on behalf of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, whose wisdom is at the heart of this work. In his words, the most precious human quality is warmheartedness and caring for one another."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote on his official website," I receive this recognition with gratitude and humility. I don’t see it as something personal, but as a recognition of our shared universal responsibility. I truly believe that peace, compassion, care for our environment, and an understanding of the oneness of humanity are essential for the collective well-being of all eight billion human beings. I am grateful that this Grammy recognition can help spread these messages more widely."

International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) wrote on X (Twitter), "IBC extends heartfelt congratulations to our beloved Patron, His Holiness the 14th DalaiLama, on the occasion of winning his first Grammy Award at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording category for “Meditation: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama."

"As His Holiness humbly shared, this recognition is not personal but a reminder of our shared universal responsibility to foster peace, compassion, environmental care, and the oneness of humanity for the well-being of all eight billion people," the IBC stated.

Prem Singh Tamang, the Chief Minister of Sikkim congratulated His Holiness the Dalai lama for receiving the ward, he wrote, "With deep reverence and joy, I offer heartiest congratulations to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on receiving the Grammy Award for Best Audiobook Narration for Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama."

"This recognition honors a lifetime devoted to awakening compassion, wisdom, and universal responsibility. Through his gentle voice and timeless teachings, countless beings are guided toward inner peace and a deeper remembrance of our shared interconnectedness," he added.

"May these meditations continue to plant seeds of kindness, heal suffering, and illuminate the path toward a more compassionate world," the Chief Minister concluded.

Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Central Tibetan congratulated the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on winning a Grammy Award for his audiobook Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

In his post, Sikyong wrote, “I speak with deep reverence and profound joy, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, in congratulating His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama on winning the Grammy Award for Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This honour is yet another opportunity to amplify His Holiness’s timeless message of peace and the oneness of humanity. May the teachings of His Holiness continue to remind us all of our shared responsibility toward one another and the world.”
