Dharamshala —His Holiness the Dalai Lama has congratulated Anthony Albanese, on his re-election as Prime Minister of Australia. His Holiness said, "I take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the Australian government and its people for their interest in and support for the Tibetan people’s freedom and dignity."
His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote to Anthony Albanese on May 4, 2025 to congratulate him on his re-election as Prime Minister of Australia following his party's victory in the Australian general election on May 3, 2025.
His Holines the Dalai Lama wrote, "It has been a privilege for me to have been able to visit Australia several times over the years. The friendship and affection that Australian brothers and sisters have shown me have touched me deeply. I have also been encouraged by their enthusiasm and interest in my efforts to promote the human values of loving kindness, compassion, a sense of oneness of humanity and closer inter-religious harmony."
"I take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to the Australian government and its people for their interest in and support for the Tibetan people’s freedom and dignity," the spiritual leader of Tibet wrote.
"I wish you every success in meeting the challenges that lie ahead in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the Australian people," His Holiness wrote and concluded the congratulatory letter by offering his prayers and good wishes.
Anthony Norman Albanese was the 31st Prime Minister of Australia and became the 32nd Prime Minister following his party's victory in the Australian general election on May 3, 2025. He has been the leader of the Labor Party since 2019 and a member of parliament (MP) for the New South Wales division of Grayndler since 1996.
