Mundgod — His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended a Long Life Prayer offered to him by Gaden Monastery and the Mundgod Tibetan Community at the Gaden Lachi Monastery in Mundgod, Karnataka, India on January 21, 2026. The Tibetan community in Mundgod also presented an honorary award to express their gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for guiding the Tibetan people during these difficult times.

London — UK-based Tibet organisations condemned the UK Government’s decision to approve the construction of a vast new Chinese embassy at Royal Mint Court in London on Jauary 20, 2025, describing it as a reckless act that endangers national security, legitimises repression, and abandons activists living in the UK.

Dharamshala — In the 2026 Sikyong elections, five candidates ran for office, including current Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Kelsang Dorjee Aukatsang, Tsering Phuntsok, Tashi Topgyal, and Gyalthang Ngawang Gaden. TPI will provide brief biographies, manifestos and the reasons why all candidates are running in the 2026 general elections. However, the Central Election Commission revoked the voting rights and candidacy for Sikyong to Tashi Topgyal, for violations of the regulations stipulated in the Charter of Tibetans-in-Exile and the Commission’s electoral rules and regulations.

Dharamshala — The Central Election Commission of the Central Tibetan Administration held a press conference on December 23, 2025, and announced that a total of 91,042 voters have registered for the 2026 election of the Sikyong and the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. This includes 56,749 registrations from India, Nepal and Bhutan, and 34,293 registrations from abroad. The primary election will be held on February 1, 2026 and the final elections on April 26, 2026, worldwide.

Dharamshala — Five Tibetan non-governmental organisations organised a protest calling on the Chinese government to immediately release Tibetans arrested for protesting against illegal gold mining in the Kashi Village, Kham, Tibet, and to halt unauthorised mining activities that are damaging Tibet's fragile environment.

Dharamshala — Tibetans and supporters around the world commemorate Human Rights Day and protest vigorously against the Chinese government for its abuses and repression of Tibetans. Protest rallies took place outside embassies, consulates and United Nations offices in Geneva (Switzerland), Berlin (Germany), Barcelona (Spain), London (England), several cities in the United States, including San Francisco and New York, Toronto (Canada) and other cities and countries.
