Dharamsala, India: Today, Monday 26 October, the Norbulingka Institute presented the most comprehensive biography to date of the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, in a public ceremony at the Institute. His Holiness the Dalai Lama; His Eminence the Karmapa, head of the Kyagyul sect; His Eminence Menri Trizin 33rd Lungtuk Tenpai Nyima, head of the indigenous Bon religion; the Tibetan Prime Minister Samdong Rinpoche, the Deputy Speaker Dolma Gyari, representatives from local NGOs, and many other Tibetans and foreigners attended this morning's celebration.

Dharamshala: Exiled Tibetans, local Indians and foreign visitors held a candlelight vigil in Dharamsala, India, last night, in response to the Chinese government's execution of four Tibetan prisoners near Lhasa, Tibetan capital on Tuesday.

Dharamsala, India: On 21 October, His Holiness the Dalai Lama started off the second day of his teaching on the Four Noble Truths with a two-hour question-and-answer session.

The Venerable Chodak Gyatso Nubpa, who served as Chairman of the 10th Assembly of Tibetan People's Deputies (ATPD) from 1988-1990, in Dharamsala, north India, has passed away. He died in Gangtok, northeast India, on October 13, after a prolonged illness. As a mark of respect, the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala remained closed on Saturday afternoon, following an hour-long prayer session.

 

Prof Samdhong Rinpoche, Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, gave a public speech in the city of Ahmedabad yesterday, after attending the 56th convocation ceremony of Gujarat Vidyapith. He addressed the topic of the Tibetan struggle, as well as recent tensions between India and China.

Dharamshala: Kalon Tripa (Tibetan prime minister) Prof Samdhong Rinpoche today presided over the opening day of a two-day annual meeting of the representatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which is being hosted by the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration.

Hundreds of Tibetans and foreigners lined the streets of the Indian hill station of Mcleod Ganj, Lower-Upper Dharamsala, today 13 October 2009, in anticipation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's return from his three-week visit to the US and Canada. His Holiness is scheduled to hold two sets of teachings at the Main Temple here before heading to Japan at the end of the month.
