Dharamshala: Mr Wangdu Phuntsok Gonsar, pioneer of the exile Tibetan education system and member of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), has passed away unexpectedly, on August 5 2010.

Dharamshala: Over half a century has passed since the Chinese first invaded and occupied Tibet, and Tibetans-in-exile have protested through demonstrations both peaceful and confrontational. Bylakuppe: The 16th Gyalyum Chenmo Memorial Gold Cup football tournament kicked off yesterday (September 9) at Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement, south India. Chief guest Tashi Phuntsok - Bylakuppe's Tibetan welfare officer - presided over the opening ceremony, which was attended by several other local dignitaries.

Dharamshala: The tenth session of the 14th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile began this morning (September 7). In his opening address, Speaker Penpa Tsering gave an overview of the recent inaugural Tibetan National General Meeting in Bylakuppe, which included the conferal of a gold seal to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Tibetan democracy day.

Bylakuppe: 421 students, including 41 nuns, at Namdrol-ling monastery who completed their Buddhist studies received their MA diplomas in Buddhist philosophy on Friday (3rd September). The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama, presented the degrees at the graduation ceremony in Bylakuppe, Karnataka state, South India.

Bylakuppe: Tibet's political and spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai lama today addressed the delegates of the first National General Meeting, underlining the need for unity and a robust democratic administration in exile to keep alive the hopes and aspirations of Tibetans living inside Tibet.

Bylakuppe: The Kalon Tripa (Prime Minister) of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile has inaugurated two newly built prayer halls at the Tibetan Secondary School, Sera Jey Monastery, Bylakuppe, south India.
