Dharamshala — Tibetans in Dharamshala celebrate His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's Grammy Award and condemn the Chinese government's false accusations against His Holiness the Dalai Lama. TYC said, “we firmly rejects these allegations and categorically denounces them as baseless, politically motivated rhetoric intended to divert international attention from China's continued repression in Tibet.”
The Tibetan Youth Congress and the Dhasa Gorshey community organised an event to celebrate the Grammy Award presented to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, with cake and lively Tibetan dances, on February 4, 2026, near the Dalai Lama's temple in Dharamshala.
The Tibetan Youth Congress (Tibet) also issued a statement condemning the Chinese government's false allegations against His Holiness the Dalai Lama after he received the Grammy Award on February 1, 2026. It states, “The Tibetan Youth Congress would like to extend its profound congratulations on this jubilant occasion of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama being conferred with the world's prestigious Grammy Award. On 1 February 2026, at the 68th Grammy Awards, this honor was bestowed upon His Holiness."
"On the following day, 2 February 2026, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, issued a statement branding His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as a "separatist" and "anti-China," further alleging that the award was being used for "anti-China political manipulation." The Tibetan Youth Congress firmly rejects these allegations and categorically denounces them as baseless, politically motivated rhetoric intended to divert international attention from China's continued repression in Tibet," the TYC stated.
"His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is not merely a spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, but a globally revered figure of moral leadership. and an enduring symbol of compassion, peace, and nonviolence. His Holiness is also a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded in recognition of his lifelong and universally acknowledged commitment to altruism, harmony, and nonviolent dialogue," the statement of TYC said.
"Despite this universal recognition, the Chinese government persists in a systematic campaign of defamation, state-sponsored disinformation, and deliberate delegitimization aimed at undermining the moral authority, public image, and historical legacy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama," they added.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama stands at a central and revered position not only within Tibetan society but also within the broader Buddhist world. He is widely regarded as a global peace laureate and a manifestation of compassion, whose moral leadership transcends national and political boundaries.
The Grammy Award conferred upon His Holiness was determined through a transparent, independent, and internationally recognised voting process. It is unsurprising that a one-party authoritarian state, unfamiliar with democratic norms, pluralism, and electoral legitimacy, would fail to comprehend or respect such institutional processes.
At a time marked by escalating global conflict, violence, and humanitarian crises, His Holiness's meditation album offers a vital and timely message of peace, mindfulness, and universal human values. The recognition accorded to this work is fully warranted and reflects his tireless efforts to promote compassion and nonviolence on a global scale.
The Chinese government's repeated attempts to distort Tibetan history have consistently failed. Just as history cannot be rewritten, the well-earned achievements, moral stature, and global respect commanded by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama cannot be diminished through propaganda or political intimidation.
