Dharamshala — The 10th session of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile concluded on Thursday. During the eight days, the MPs adopted a resolution of gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a resolution of solidarity for Tibetans living in Tibet. The resolution condemned China’s sinicization policies in Tibet, including forced boarding schools for Tibetan children, restrictions on monasteries, and the suppression of Tibetan language and education.
The 10th session of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile concluded on September 18, 2025, the MPs adopted a resolution of gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, a resolution of solidarity for Tibetans living in Tibet, legislative amendments, discussed reports from the departments of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and elected two additional electoral commissioners to the Electoral Commission.
On the fourth day of the 10th session of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, on September 13, 2025, the official motion on the solidarity on the critical situations inside Tibet was presented by MP Lobsang Thupten, and supported by MP Tsaneytsang Dhondup Tashi. During the deliberations, parliamentarians expressed their deep concerns about the critical situation in Tibet and expressed their solidarity with the Tibetan people inside Tibet.
The seven-point official motion on solidarity with Tibet highlights the bravery of Tibetans who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of Tibet. It condemns China’s sinicization policies, including forced boarding schools, restrictions on monasteries, and the suppression of Tibetan language and education.
The motion calls for an end to the CCP’s brutal and destructive policies and demands the release of all political prisoners, including the 11th Panchen Lama. It urges dialogue between Tibetan and Chinese counterparts while affirming Tibet’s historical independence, rejects political interference in His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s future reincarnation, and calls for collective efforts by Tibetans in free world to safeguard Tibet’s religion, culture, and rights.
On the last day of the session, parliamentarians elected former parliamentarian Tsering Youdon as one of the additional election commissioners, with 30 votes against Karma Lekshey, who received 11 votes, and elected Nangsa Choedon, former secretary of the CTA, as the other additional election commissioner, with 32 votes against Dr Kunchok Tsundue, who received 11 votes.
In his concluding address to the session, the Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel informed the house of resolution of gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the obituary references, solidarity resolution, legislature amendments, 4 starred questions, reports of departments of the CTA, Kashag’s clarification, election of two Additional Election Commissioners of the Election Commission and pertinent matters taken in this session.
The Speaker called for collective efforts from all in resolving the Sino-Tibetan conflict and reminded the lawmakers of the importance of maintaining proper conduct during the debate and adhering to the Rules and Regulations of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
The 10th session of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile concluded at 7:36 p.m. on September 18, 2025, after speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel announced the closure of the session.
