Dharamshala — Tibet TV, Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration hosted screening of six documentary films including “A Buddhist Scientist,” “A Wisdom for the World”, "The Kinship, Traditions of Compassion”, “The Dalai Lama’s Touch”, “Wisdom of Debate”, and “Under the Dalai Lama’s Wings: Guardians of the Shelduck”, to celebrate the Year of Compassion and the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration hosted screening at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) hall, Dharamshala, on May 1, 2026, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
The guests were Lobsang Jinpa (Secretary of Office His Holiness the Dalai Lama), Geshe Lhardor (Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives), Kalon Norzin Dolma (Minister, of DIIR, the Central Tibetan Administration), Karma Choeying (DIIR Secretary). Members of the public and students from Upper TCV came to watch the documentary films. The films were hosted by Tibet TV, the DIIR of the Central Tibetan Administration.
The film "The Dalai Lama's Touch", directed by Lobsang Jigme, features Indian scholars such as Aruna Roy (Indian socialist and political activist), Shivshankar Menon (retired diplomat from the Indian Foreign Service), Wajahat Habibullah (former chairman of the National Commission for Minorities), Arun Shourie (Indian economist, journalist, author and politician), Rajiv Mehrotra (managing trustee of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama), Dr Anita Dudhane (allergist and clinical immunologist practising in Goa) and Amjad Ali Khan (sarod virtuoso). The scholars share how His Holiness the Dalai Lama has inspired them to become more compassionate, kind and peaceful, and encouraged them to help others.
The film “The Kinship: Traditions of Compassion”, by Tenzin Zompa, features various religious leaders, including Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati, Khawja Farid Ahmed Nizami, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, Giani Gurbachan Singh, Rabbi Ezekiel Isaac Malekar, Archbishop Felix Anthony Machado and Acharya Lokesh Muni. In the film, they discuss how His Holiness the Dalai Lama brought different religions together by visiting places of worship to show respect for all faiths. He tells religious leaders and their followers that the fundamental message of all religions is the same. That message is love, peace and harmony.
In his film “A Buddhist Scientist”, Jigme Wangchen explores how His Holiness the Dalai Lama interacts with scientists by drawing on Buddhist philosophy. The film also examines the Mind and Life conferences. It includes interviews with the renowned neurologist Dr Richard Davidson, Director of the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin; Geshe Lhardaor, Director of the Tibetan Library; and Geshe Thupten Jinpa, translator of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
