Dharamshala — The Chinese government has intensified its attempts to propagate the so-called ‘thoughts of Chinese President Xi Jinping’, ‘ Chinese Modern Socialism’ and ‘ Ideological and Political Education’ among children in primary, secondary and higher education, as well as in universities, particularly Tibetan children in Chinese colonial-style boarding schools.
The Chinese authorities, school officials and political teachers held a meeting on June 3, 2024, in the Chinese government divided so called Qinghai Province, to step up activities, including the teaching of Xi Jinping's thought, Chinese socialism and the ideological and political education to students, particularly Tibetans.
The Chinese authorities believe that what they have done is not enough to make Tibetans like Chinese people and be loyal to the Chinese government. Therefore, they have stepped up activities aimed at propagating “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” and providing ideological and political education to Tibetan children.
The meeting focused on propagating Chinese ideological and political education in all schools in Qinghai province, including an in-depth understanding of “Xi Jinping's thoughts on the social, culture, education and politics, Chinese culture and history.”
The Chinese authorities and political teachers are placing greater emphasis on subjects related to Socialism with Chinese Characteristics among Tibetan students and other students primary schools. They will strengthen the teaching of “the History of the People's Republic of China’’, ‘‘the Revolutionary Tradition’’, “Politics and Patriotism”, “laws and regulations” and “the concept of one nation (China)” to Secondary school students in the Province. They will reinforce the teaching of ‘Xi Jinping's thoughts, Chinese culture and the rule of law” in Colleges and Universities in the Province.
Through these efforts, the Chinese government wanted to instills a feeling of ‘love for the CCP and China’ and ‘love for Chinese socialism’ in the minds of Tibetan students. The campaign also includes the so-called “the Four Consciousnesses”, and “Two Establishes and Two Upholds;” which means ‘resolutely safeguarding the position of General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core of the Party Central Committee and the core of the entire Party, and resolutely safeguarding the authority and centralised leadership of the Party Central Committee’.
