Dharamsala: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Tuesday began three-day Buddhist teachings at the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamshala at the request of Korean Buddhist followers. Each day's teachings will consist of two 2-hour sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The more than 4000 people attending today's teachings included 1400 Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns, 1300-1500 lay Tibetans, around 250 Koreans, and over 1400 visiting tourists from over 55 western countries. These teachings are simultaneously being translated into Korean, English, Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish, and available on FM radio transmission.

Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Tibetan Dalai Lama said yesterday at a press conference held by the Forum 2000 foundation in Prague, "Democracy is the universal value, now in Asia....in China, there are people, especially among the intellectuals, who are working hard for democracy, openness and an independent judicial system."  On Thursday in Prague His Holiness called upon the West to advocate for a more active role in the development of democracy in China and elsewhere in Asia.

Delhi: In a speech on Saturday at the International Conference on Intercultural Communication organized by the Institute of Management Studies, Noida, The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama named the media as a modern guru (teacher) of society which is marking a path towardsintercultural communication in a professional and unbiased manner.Showing his faith in journalism, His Holiness said that the media is driven by the five senses of human beings..

Dharamshala: A five-member delegation from the French Senate held a press conference yesterday at Lhapka Tsering Hall at the Department of Information and International Relations, to express their strong support for the Tibetan issue. During their time in town, the delegation also visited various Tibetan institutions and met with representatives of several Dharamsala-based Tibetan communities.

Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Slovakia on Tuesday afternoon, upon an invitation of the Jan Langos Foundation. On Wednesday he receives the Jan Langos international award on Wednesday for his promotion of human rights and his leadership in the nonviolent campaign by Tibetans seeking autonomy from China. Later on, he is also delivered a public speech at Pasienky Hall in Bratislava.

Taipei; 8 am yesterday morning, the 520 seats arranged for the occasions were full. The crowded hall of Tibetans entered, and sat on the floor to bear witness to His Holiness the Dalai Lama's return to Taiwan. His visit is in response to the Typhoon that caused widespread damage and loss of life in Taiwan last month.

Taipei: Tibet’s exiled leader, the Dalai Lama, led a massive public prayer on Tuesday morning with an audience of 20,000 thousand, comprised of Taiwanese Buddhists, Tibetans, and people from other religious faiths, demonstrating their compassion for the Taiwanese victims who lost their lives in Typhoon Marakot, which struck Taiwan in last month.
