Dharamshala, India – His Holiness the Dalai Lama offered his condolences to the families and victims of the tragic train collision in Odisha, and offered his prayers to all those injured and others affected by the tragedy. His Holiness wrote, "As a mark of solidarity with the people of Odisha, the Dalai Lama Trust (DLT) is making a donation towards medical treatment, as well as relief and rescue efforts."

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama wrote to the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mr Naveen Patnaik, on June 3, 2023, to express his solidarity and condolences to the families and victims affected by the tragic train collision that took place in Odisha on June 2, 2023.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister of Odrisha, His Holiness expressed his sadness at the tragic incident in Balasore, which claimed many lives.

According to the official website of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, His Holiness the Dalai Lama offers his "condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones" and says he "prays for all those who have been injured and for others affected by this tragedy".

His Holiness stated, “I very much appreciate, that the State Government and [all] other agencies, including those of the Central Government, are doing their utmost to provide medical treatment and support to the injured and other people affected by this tragic accident".

His Holiness also added that "as a mark of solidarity towards the people of Odrisha, the Dalai Lama Trust (DLT) is making a donation towards medical treatment, as well as relief and rescue efforts."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama concluded the letter by offering his prayers and best wishes.
