Dharamshala: - The spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama met with a top US State Department official in capital Washington DC on Tuesday, July 5. His Holiness, who celebrated his 76th birthday yesterday, is in the US to offer an 10-day Kalachakra initiation.

Dharamshala: The spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama told the Associated Press on Friday that the Chinese government has no right to choose his successor upon his death. He claims that the next Dalai Lama will be born in exile somewhere outside of Chinese-ruled Tibet, and stated on Friday that he has the last say on the subject of his rebirth.

Dharamshala: Today marks the 52nd anniversary of the Tibetan people's peaceful uprising of 1959 against Communist China's repression in the Tibetan capital Lhasa, and the third anniversary of the non-violent demonstrations that took place across Tibet in 2008. On this occasion, I would like to pay tribute to and pray for those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the just cause of Tibet. I express my solidarity with those who continue to suffer repression and pray for the well-being of all sentient beings.

Dharamshala: The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) on 12 January 2011 released its Annual Report 2010: Human Rights Situation in Tibet. This 90-page report documents violation of right in Tibet in the area of Civil and Political Rights, Religious Freedom, Right to Education and Right to Subsistence.

Washington — A top aide to United States President Barack Obama on Monday held talks Monday with Tibet's spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and voiced support for a peaceful solution with China, officials said, in the first meeting between the two sides in months.

California: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama landed at San Francisco International Airport, California, late this morning, on the first leg of his official visit to America and Canada, which formally begins in San Jose on October 12th.

Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Germany yesterday, following his tour of Hungary, to be honoured with the Menschen in Europa award - a symbol of peace and tolerance. At the ceremony in Passau, Roland Koch, former premier of the German state of Hesse, declared that China should not pass up any opportunity to hold talks with Tibetan spiritual leader.

Budapest: His Holiness the Dalai Lama delivered the first of two days of teachings to a crowd of thousands at a sports arena in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, on Saturday (September 18). He then travelled to the town hall, where Mayor Gabor Demszky made him an honorary citizen.
