Rome, November 17: “Welcome to our country, city and home, Your Holiness,” said President Luis Durnwalder of South Tyrol. His Holiness the Dalai Lama today visited Bolzano and Trento, the capital cities of the Regional Autonomous Governments of South Tyrol and Trento, in northern Italy.  His Holiness expressed his appreciation for the support of the people and governments of the two autonomous regions.

A round table conference for Tibet was held on the afternoon of 15th November in Trento, with the Presidents of the Italian Autonomous regions of Trentino and Alto Adige. Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, spiritual and political leader of the Tibetan people, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 and an exile from his land since 1959, spoke today in Trento at the invitation of the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Italy-Tibet Association.

The Indian state of Sikkim's first Tibet Festival will take place in its capital, Gangtok, from November 6 -10. The festival has been organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of India's welcoming of Tibetan exiles and the preservation of Tibetan culture.

Bhopal: In a radical gesture of political protest, self-proclaimed Gandhian global peace activist Dr. Mahesh ‘Aman Gandhi’ Yadav protested the Chinese army’s looming threat of aggression in India by using his own blood to scrawl the statement “Killer China must be declared terrorist country” on a poster of Chinese President Hu Jintao in TT Square in Nagar, Bhopal (M.P.).  The move was an appeal to the U.N. and other world leaders for the immediate expulsion of China from the UN Security Council, and the liberation of Tibet from Chinese occupation.  This, according to Yadav, is the only way to “preserve world peace.”

Dharamshala: A galaxy of luminaries and members of the public, who have devoted their lives to justice, freedom and non-violence, will take part in the centenary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's Hind Swaraj in India's capital, New Delhi.

"The Tamils and the Tibetans have been forced to stand together today as N.Ram's The Hindu media brigade continues to charge both communities as ‘separatists', completely ignoring the genocide and suffering the two communities are undergoing" said Thirumurugan, key organiser of the Tamil-Tibetan gathering in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, yesterday.

Dharamshala: The Chinese authorities in Tibet Autonomous Regions ( TAR ) has decided to launch a new Strike Hard campaign ahead of the 60th Anniversary of the National Day Celebration (starting 1 October) according to the official report posted on Xizang Re bao (Tibet Daily) dated 8 September 2009.
