Independent third-party audit

As part of the JTI certification process, Tibet Post International's responses and supporting information underwent an independent third-party audit and TPI is waiting the outcomes.

The audit examined the information submitted by TPI against the applicable requirements of the JTI Programme and provided an external assessment as part of the certification process.

Editorial Ethics and Professional Standards

Tibet Post International's journalism is guided by principles designed to protect editorial integrity, accuracy, independence, accountability and public trust.

Accuracy and Verification

TPI seeks to ensure that published information is accurate, appropriately verified and presented responsibly. Where significant factual errors are identified, TPI seeks to correct or clarify the relevant information in an appropriate and transparent manner.

Editorial Independence

TPI's editorial decisions are intended to remain independent from political, commercial or other external interests that could improperly influence journalistic content.

Editorial independence is fundamental to TPI's commitment to providing journalism that is not subject to improper external control, pressure or interference.

Transparency

TPI seeks to provide readers with accessible information concerning its organisation, editorial standards, journalistic practices and mechanisms of accountability.

The publication of TPI's JTI information forms part of this broader commitment to transparency.

Sources and Verification

TPI seeks to identify and evaluate sources appropriately and to apply reasonable verification procedures before publishing information, particularly where claims are significant, contested or potentially consequential.

Where appropriate, TPI considers the reliability, relevance and context of information before publication.

Conflicts of Interest

TPI seeks to identify and appropriately manage actual or potential conflicts of interest that could affect editorial independence, journalistic integrity or public confidence in its journalism.

Journalists and contributors are expected to avoid circumstances in which personal, financial or other interests could improperly influence editorial decisions.

Corrections and Accountability

TPI recognises the importance of correcting significant factual errors and responding appropriately to legitimate concerns regarding published material.

Accountability forms an important part of maintaining public confidence in journalism and strengthening editorial standards.

Distinction Between Journalism, Opinion and Commentary

TPI seeks to distinguish factual reporting from opinion, analysis and commentary so that audiences can understand the nature and purpose of the material being presented.

Where content represents analysis, commentary or opinion, its character should be identifiable to readers.
