A talk with Tsering Samdup, an ex-political prisoner

Dharamshala: I got acquainted with Samdup at Tibetan language class in LIT (Live Ideas for Tibet) center, where he tried to teach me some basics of Tibetan. That time I didn't know that till 1994 he was a monk in Tibet, then joined a demonstation in front of the Jokhang monastery in Lhasa to get six years of imprisonment. China should do the right thing and grant Tibet autonomy

Canberra:29 June 2009-What a pity for Tibetans that they are not under Danish rule. Imagine: Denmark has granted Greenland self-rule after 300 years under Danish authority. Last Updated on Tuesday, 30 June 2009 13:06

Chinese government responsible for Tibetan dissent--not His Holiness the Dalia Lama

Dharamshala: The Tibetan government in exile says that over 220 Tibetans killed, 1,294 injured and 290 sentenced, more than 5,600 were arrested or detained and over 1,000 disappeared after the Chinese armed military deadly cracked down in all parts of Tibet.  Now, a group of respected Chinese lawyers have publicized research that demonstrates that the Tibetan riots and protests of last March steamed from legitimate grievances caused by failed government policies in Tibet--- not His Holiness the Dalia Lama. Tibet as talking point

{The Tibet Post International - Monday, 19th May 2008}-The stateman 19th May 2008. A Tibetan friend mischievously told me: "The Chinese are lucky, Buddha is more compassionate than Allah". This was not meant as judgment on a particular religion, but rather to illustrate that the way Buddhists react to a situation is quite different from the adepts of other credos.
