Dharamshala  — Chinese authorities in the southwestern province of Sichuan, Northeastern Tibet, have apparently tightened restrictions on anyone planning to study at the Larung Gar Buddhist Academy, allegedly forcing any potential students to first pass a 'political examination' administered by the police.

Tibetan father of three died after setting himself on fire in Tibet

Dharamshala — Sources from Tibet confirmed that a Tibetan father of three, named Tashi Rabten died after setting himself on fire, saying he called for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the release of Panchen Gendün Chökyi Nyima, as he set himself on fire.

Dharamshala — Authorities in China’s southwestern province of Sichuan have reportedly freed a second Tibetan linked to a self-immolation protest three years ago in Ngaba county (Chinese: Aba), releasing him from Mianyang prison on December 4th, sources said.
